I have been a homeowner for over 40 years and never had to file a claim for any damage inside my home. Unfortunately, my luck ran out when I came home after a holiday weekend to a water leak in the kitchen. I contacted my insurance company, and SunGlo was at my house within 24 hours. Every worker who entered my home was always polite and answered all my questions; if they could not answer my questions, they found someone who could. The project manager, Oscar, always contacted me promptly and informed me about what would happen next. The Co-CEO, Pat, was involved in the restoration. Pat came to my home to tell me what the restoration would entail (moving my whole family out of the house so all the wooden floor could be sanded and stained). He personally took care of finding the wood that needed replacing. The workers who packed and unpacked my belongings handled them like their own. As they were unpacking, I tried putting sliders under all my furniture. One worker stopped me and said they could do that for me. So, they put all the sliders on before taking the furniture off the truck. I also want to acknowledge the cleaning crew. The cleaning crew worked as a team, washing windows, blinds, walls, cabinets, ceiling fans, and the floors. I won’t lie, this first-time experience was overwhelming, and I don’t want to do it again. But if I did, without hesitation, I would call SunGlo again. I trust this company and would highly recommend using them if your luck runs out like mine.

Every person that we dealt with at SunGlo to handle the smoke damage in our home was personable, extremely hard working, thorough, and they left nothing undone. They showed up on time, did what they had to do, from cleaning to packing, to removing everything from the home, while constantly walking us through the steps of what was to take place next. We want to mention their names and thank them for all the work they did, we appreciate you so much Melody, Paige, Diego, Kim, Aldo, and Jeff. Danielle was superb in how she directed the operations of her people in our home regarding ours and their responsibilities. For my family, the whole process was very overwhelming, but Danielle kept us at ease during the whole ordeal, and explained everything step by step. She returned every call we made and was at our home often. We asked her to please come by and visit any time she is in the area. We love her!!!!! Lastly, Pat, the owner, was extremely personable and such a pleasure to talk with. He came out to the home often to also keep us at ease, make sure everything was being done properly and timely, from his people to the contractors he brought in. Pat also called us often to make sure my mom and dad (both not healthy) were doing well in the home while all this was going on around us. When damage from a dishwasher leak prompted us to contact our insurance company, they referred us to SunGlo Restoration. We scheduled an appointment, met with Todd, who was very friendly and professional. He went over everything—assessed the damage, and recommended a flooring company that they work closely with, Harvey’s Quality Flooring. We met with the owner, Rich, who brought out several samples for us to look at. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Rich… he was extremely professional, friendly and so accommodating—just a really nice man! We had a few setbacks and delays along the way, but both he and Todd helped to facilitate everything so we could move forward. Even when Rich didn’t receive the additional samples he requested from the manufacturer, he managed to locate them at a local vendor and then brought those to us to keep for a week or so, enabling us to view them in our home, in order to make a decision. With our choice made, order was placed, and work was completed about a month ago. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. Rich, and his son, Tom, were nothing but friendly, professional and very respectful. They, along with my husband, hung plastic and covered our furniture/belongings, in order to keep the dust and mess to a minimum from the tear-out, etc. His installer, Paul, did the most incredible job—he was very meticulous, and it shows—the quality and workmanship is OUTSTANDING!! Rich, as well as Paul and Tom, went above and beyond, and I am so happy with how my floors turned out!! In October 2021 my daughter flooded the basement. SunGlo came over that evening and cleaned up the water and tore up the carpet and walls to let everything dry out. They sent an estimator out so we could complete the claim with our insurance company and he asked if we wanted to work with them to repair the damage. We agreed since we were pleased with how quickly they had come to our house and we didn't want to delay the repairs by getting in contact with another company. It was all downhill from here though. The estimator ended up being Rick, our project manager. There were scheduling issues on the part of SunGlo at first, and I think by the end of November we agreed that work would begin in the middle of December. The week before work was to begin my kids became close COVID contacts at school and they needed to quarantine for 10 days. I called SunGlo and we agreed that work would start on December 27. When that day came around the crew never showed up. They thought they needed to install 24 sheets of drywall or something ridiculous like that. The project manager came to the house to confirm that only 4-5 sheets were needed. So the crew came back and worked from December 28 - December 30, working an average of only 4.2 hours per day (I confirmed this via security camera recordings). At that point the crew needed to go finish another job so I informed them that I would be available that next week with the exception of Tuesday, January 4th because I had a long-scheduled appointment on that day. I never heard back from the crew or SunGlo until I called the office on the 7th. My wife and I were fed up with the constant lack of communication on their part. The project manager is supposed to contact us and coordinate with the work crews, but it was clear this was not happening. With me going back to school on the 10th and her working full time it would be very difficult scheduling further work without missing a lot of work or school. I told the office that I wanted to stop the work, and that is when I finally heard back from our project manager. I told him I wanted an itemized invoice for work done so we could close out the account. I received the first of several invoices on January 14th quoting us for $4,113. This included about $1800 worth or work, $1,136 for profit and $1,136 for overhead costs. At this point I didn't realize that they were charging profit and overhead based on the original work estimate they sent to our insurance company (and upon which we were issued a check). That estimate came out to $11,369 to complete the entire project. I noticed that we were being charged for two coats of paint instead of the one that was actually applied (and we bought the paint ourselves but I get the feeling the line item included the purchase cost of paint), drywall prepped for primer and paint (not done at that point), and the primer that was not applied yet. Oh...we were also being charged for them taping the walls to get them ready to paint. They did not apply even one single piece of tape. I called the project manager and complained, and he agreed to drop the profit from the invoice. The next invoice I received had a line item for...and I quote..."Credit for profit on work not done". That's a tacit admission that they were attempting to charge me a profit they were not entitled to. This invoice came to $2,666, with work completed at $808, but the overhead costs were still based on the original estimate. I complained again and now we have an invoice for $1400 with $1172 in work (they added a painting minimum now) and $117 overhead and $117 profit. We're tired of this back and forth and we're paying the invoice. If not for our due diligence, SunGlo would have readily overcharged us. I do not recommend this company.

UPDATE: The painter came and finished the one corner in the living room. He was very kind and I appreciate him fixing his mistake. However, they still claim no work was done in the kitchen. Don’t hire this company! I wish I’d read reviews before I agreed to work with them. A tree fell on the house I was in the process of purchasing and Sunglo was hired to oversee the repairs. First, the project manager, Rip, went over everything that would be done and assured me he’d communicate with me each step of the way. He gave me an estimate that the project would be complete in two months at the latest. He even gave me a spiel about how he likes to under promise and over deliver. Ha! I reached out to Rip 3 weeks after the meeting because I hadn’t heard a thing about any repairs being scheduled. He responded with several excuses and an urge that I be patient. Another 2 weeks go by. Nothing. So I reached out again and was told they would start next week. That didn’t happen. Another couple weeks. More excuses and a promise that the repairs will begin next week. Finally, 2 months after the initial meeting, repairs begin. They finish and I do a walk through prior to the closing process. I find that two different corners in the house were not painted. Not blended or anything. They just didn’t paint those corners and it is brutally obvious as the colors do not match. There is a huge gap between the wall and ceiling in the kitchen where they clearly did drywall work, because of the huge mess of drywall dust they left for me. They also left a satellite dish dangling from the roof. I reached out again to Rip, whose reply was that they were trying to schedule someone to come fix the satellite. After asking him if his company is liable for any damage the satellite makes, suddenly someone is available to come the next day! Nothing is done about the paint and Rip tells me that these issues were pre-existing and that the drywall dust must have been from some other recent work (untrue as the house was empty until I moved in and the previous owner hadn’t done any recent projects). I hope whoever takes the time to read this saves themselves the headache I experienced and hires ANYONE else!
