On April 7th, 2024, my husband and I were woken up by a fire that originated from our stove in our kitchen. One of our pets had managed to turn on a burner that had a plastic bin sitting on it, and it pretty quickly caught fire. My husband was able to put out the fire before the fire department arrived, but not before our house was filled with smoke and fire damage. Our insurance connected us with Paul Davis Restoration, where its was determined we would need to completely gut our kitchen, replace our floors, etc. Our first project manager through PDR unfortunately was not a good fit (from what I understand he’s no longer with the company), and we were prepared to try to find a different contractor. However, after voicing our concerns to our estimator, Steve, he offered to reassign us to Lindsay R. We were already having a hell of time working with one of our other fire recovery vendors through our insurance, so we were already super exhausted and stressed by the time Lindsay came for our consultation in early July. All that said, I’m so glad we decided to stay with PDR, and work with Lindsay! We understood that this process could take time due to a million different reasons, but the one thing we wanted was clear and frequent communication so that we knew what was going on with our house. Lindsay delivered on this and then some! She texted us multiple times a week with updates on materials, crews, etc. If a supplier was being difficult, she found another solution that worked for our needs. She saved us money wherever she could, and if we ever had a question or issue, she was very quick to find a solution or answer for us. If you’ve ever been through any type of house disaster, then you probably know that working with insurance and their vendors can be just as traumatizing as the disaster itself. However, I’m so happy to share that Lindsay was one of the few people who helped make this process bearable for us. Oh, AND we got a gorgeous kitchen, updated floors, and more throughout our house! We truly can’t thank Lindsay at Paul Davis Restoration enough for all of her hard work and dedication to our project!

My insurance approved a total of ten thousand and forty eight dollars to have my garage reconstructed in Dayton Ohio in 2020. The person from Paul Davis Restoration who was in charge of reconstructing my garage… ignored the construction work and compromised my safety and over charged for siding that did not need to be replaced. He made up stories about the foundation might have to be replaced if he had to get an inspection and then he said he would not need an inspection if he didn’t replace the entire right wall. He kept telling me that the insurance would not pay for the foundation if the inspector did not approve the current foundation. The problem with his story is that there was clearly nothing wrong with the foundation and my insurance already gave me the first five thousand dollars to have the repair work done. Paul Davis Restoration could had put a portion of the first five thousand dollars to the foundation to be repaired if needed. I told the person in charge from Paul Davis restoration to not try to hook me with any additional cost. I even crossed out on the contract where he tried to hold me responsible for additional cost. I also put my initials beside it and I wrote on that section of the contract that I would NOT be responsible for any additional cost after they received five thousand dollars from me. I made all of this VERY CLEAR before any work began. The person in charge at the time from Paul Davis Restoration was totally unprofessional during this entire process and he even tricked me in signing the completion of work form. He sat right on my couch with a smile on his face telling me that I would be getting money back because he did not have time to complete the work but I would have to sign the paper to get the money so I can get the repairs done myself. After I signed the paper, I received emails from his office saying he was going to sue me if I did not pay the remaining balance. This person from Paul Davis violated the contract even after I made it very clear before he even started any work that I was not responsible for any additional cost. My insurance finally paid the additional cost of five thousand and forty eight dollars to Paul Davis Restoration and I have not received anything back from Paul Davis. I have had to pay out of pocket to get the construction repairs done myself. I reported this company to The Attorney General Office. The new person in charge of The Paul Davis Restoration Dayton Ohio office lied to the Attorney General Office by telling them that he knew nothing about this. The new person in charge and myself talked on the phone for an hour and I even sent him pictures of the neglected work and emails from the previous person in charge refusing to repair the construction work properly. I have been dealing with this nightmare for over five years now. I am finding from other reviews that this sort of thing is going on NATIONWIDE with Paul Davis Restoration. This is why consumers nationwide should NEVER think of going with Paul Davis Restoration. The checks were made out to Paul Davis Restoration and I want my five thousand dollars back.

Paul Davis requested a $1k payment before any work was started. They did not communicate effectively with me . The project managers scheduled appointments but cancelled last minute. I had to repeatedly reach out to them for updates. They were contacted in January ( and paid in January)about the project and was notified today that they couldn't do the work and I would be receiving a check in the mail. Very unprofessional. If it was possible to leave Zero stars I would.

Long story shot: I had a small fire in my garage and my insurance company referred me to, Paul Davis. Biggest mistake of my life. This company is concerned about saving your insurance money and doing a poor job, than actually restoring your home after one of the worst tragedies of your life. You can explicitly state the items you want replaced and they will blatantly ignore you. House still reeks of smoke because they refused to replace the drywall adjacent to the fire. If, Jason, is your project manager- run as fast as you can. This dude is SHADY. So shady that I called the owner of, Paul Davis, whose name is Brian, less than 24 hours of meeting him to tell him something was “off” with Jason. But the owner assured me his work would be the best I could pay for. And when this all came to a conclusion and I had a meeting with the owner about, Jason, a second time- he wanted to pretend like I never made the first call regarding Jason’s trustworthiness. He eventually remembered. He’s an absolute joke. Not only is their work super shotty… I caught Paul Davis stealing from my home. I actually went out and bought cameras for my house because I just had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right with this company. They were lying to me. Telling me they completed work when they hadn’t. My cameras not only caught them stealing from me red handed, but when I fired the company for theft… they tried charging me almost $10,000 in work that WAS NEVER COMPLETED. When I brought this up to a man named, Chris, he literally laughed at me. This company and their contractors have NO idea what they are doing. Their work was horrendous. They literally glued a roof vent onto the top of my roofing shingles. Didn’t cut a hole or utilize the one that was there before. They put shingles over the hole, then glued the roof vent ON TOP of the shingles. This company is full of thieves. They’re loyal to saving your insurance money and absolutely nothing else. My insurance rep was calling and giving me updates and timelines on my project. I virtually never heard from Paul Davis. Always my insurance rep. He always knew more about my house and my project than I did. I work in healthcare. I ended up watching hours of YouTube videos and managed to compete the project myself because I could no longer trust them to do it. And the quality of work I pumped out?! 1,000x better than all the work, Paul Davis did. I literally knew nothing about construction. Run from this company as fast as you can. Do not fall victim like I did. I was naïve and too trusting.. when I should have went with my gut instinct. Company never replaced the items that were stolen from me. If you’ve had work done by Paul Davis in the past. I strongly suggest you hire an independent inspector to check their work. The list of everything this company did so poorly that they had to refund me is so large and extensive it’s easier to tell you to just avoid them. They’re trying to steal from you. First from the privacy of your own home. Then from their final bill they try and deliver to you with $10,000 in overcharges. They tried to charge me before they even came to inspect their own work. NOONE should use Paul Davis. Update for owner, Brian Rigsby. 10/14/24 Thanks for admitting to overcharging $10,000 that you were forced to correct and refund me for. That’s very important for your customers to know. The insurance company DID approve the work I requested and said that the entire wall adjacent to the fire SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. I will upload the original scope for other viewers. Not only did you lie last year, but you’re still trying to lie to consumers about how this whole mess went down. I was not asking for additional work to be done outside the scope of what was promised. Accept your mistakes and move on. Don’t come here painting another picture of what went down. Thieves. Disgusting. Jason is a liar and I consider you right there with him. You tried charging me for work that was never done. That’s why I was refunded. Important for your customers to know that.

I don't know what kind of work Paul Davis Restoration does, because we ended up having to tear down our house, but do not hire them to do an estimate for you. They don't work for "you", they work for the insurance companies. I hired them myself, and never received my estimate. They sent it straight to my insurance adjuster where it was re-worked to benefit the insurance company. They would not release their estimate to me in fear of being dropped from the insurance companies' program. Hire someone who will stand with you!

Contacted Mark recently about work done at our house after Hurricane Ike. We had some leaks in our roof as well as shingles ripped off. Now I was a little disappointed since the roof was 10 years old, but understood it had been 10 years and things fail. Where I grew frustrated was after having 2 local contractors come out to give me a quote on repairs, they both brought up multiple issues of poor original installation. Both contractors had the same errors picked up on and suggested very poor workmanship when the roof was installed. I contacted Mark to verify the shingle color and express my frustration. He listened to my complaint and was cordial but said literally he could give two sh!ts what the other contractors said about his companies work. Mark gave me his reasoning and I'm sure in this field there are complaints regularly but I would of thought he would at minimum had someone take a look and see what the issues were. He did offer to call me back if he found the exact color of shingle that was used. Due to contacting two different local contractors with over 30 years’ experience, telling me the same issues they both found were because of the improperly installed roofing system as well as some other what I deemed minor issues during the whole project, I cannot recommend Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling. Mark's disregard of the issues and attitude of just really not caring is a part of this as well.

Our family had the absolute worst experience with Paul Davis Restoration. They remodeled our home after a fire and I'm not sure where they got their workers, but here are a few examples of the horrible work their contractors did: 1- When we took a shower upstairs, we came downstairs and there was a puddle - they forgot to connect the pipes. 2- When we had the dryer delivered - they dry walled over the dryer vent! 3 - We wanted to donate items such as cabinets, etc. but they were all taken before we could get to them, and 4- many many items were stolen such as tools and more! Overall - they made a horrible situation even worse. I would not recommend them for any job - large or small.

Experience started out well until they set an appointment and did not show. I have a rule if a contractor is 15 minutes late with no phone call about them being late I drop the company. Being late with no thought of calling ahead many times is a sign that the company has poor reliability and customer service. Company called at 20 minutes late and I told them I was canceling them, no apology for being late just an attitude. There are many local businesses who want to earn your business, not this one.
